'We are committed to the environment and sustainability in our practice and product'

Like most artisan cabinet makers, we pay particular attention to the environmental impact and sustainability of our products and operations, sourcing materials locally, using only FSC certified timber, heating our workshops with wood waste from production, and minimising our energy consumption.

We have embraced our commitment to reducing climate impact in our product and practices, and in furthering our commitment have been involved in East Lothian Council’s mission to support local business in measuring and mitigating their emissions, helping facilitate carbon management planning and environmental responsibility. This has given us greater understanding of our current carbon footprint and ways to identify further areas for reduction. 

In our product - the Lagom kitchen range has been designed to:

• last a lifetime with high quality engineered birch plywood used for durability rather than chipboard or mdf along with solid oak detailing and oak veneered birch plywood where decorative oak panels are required;

• be easy to maintain and repairable with the cabinetry components at highest risk of accidental damage being removable for simple replacement or repair;

• be more easily dismantled and moved or resold to avoid good quality materials ending up in landfill;

• use more environmentally friendly finishes including water based paints and lacquers as well as linseed oil based furniture linoleum to provide the striking door colours.
